More than 50 agriculture exporters from Afghanistan will be showcasing their finest high value Agriculture products including fruits, nuts and spices for the first time for Indian buyers at the upcoming Four day “Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan International Trade and Investment Show’ being organised by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in India’s commercial capital Mumbai from September 12-15 , 2018.
The “Passage to Prosperity (P2P) Trade & Investment Show is the second annual event designed to boost Afghan exports in India. The First P2P was organised In September 2017 in India’s capital New Delhi , a similar number of Afghan Agri exhibitors had participated in the first P2P Trade and Investment Show. In Addition couple of months back in July 2018 a Two day trade mission exhibition ‘Made in Afghanistan: Nature’s best’ was held in New Delhi on July 13-14, 2018 ,Business worth INR 564 crore (US$78 Million) in signed agreements.
With significant interest generated in Afghan products including agriculture the ‘Passage to Prosperity’ show is now being organised in Mumbai to create greater awareness among India’s southern and central states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Orissa, and Telangana. Afghan producers and exporters of fresh fruit, dried fruit, nuts, spices and juices will be showcasing their all high value natural products to develop partnerships with Indian importers, wholesalers, and supermarket chains.
Afghan produce has long been a favourite of Indian consumers. Afghan apples, grapes, apricots, pomegranates, and raisins continue to be a staple of Indian hospitality. With increased capacity of Afghan producers and exporters to deliver the freshest of produce to market, these quality products are once again finding their way onto supermarket shelves.
“The new generation of exporters from Afghanistan have evolved from conventional fruit traders to modern fruit exporters, “They understand the market and can now supply quality produce with proper post-harvest processes and good packaging.” ” said Devanshu Kaira of Radha Krishan Fruit Co, an importer of Afghan fruits from Delhi.
The P2P Trade & Investment Show runs from 12th to 14th September at the JW Marriott Sahar Hotel near Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. In addition to agricultural products, the P2P show will also showcase Afghan businesses representing sectors such as education, healthcare, textiles, gems and jewelry, industrial mining, air cargo, transportation, and energy.
