Play on life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Daastangoi style titled “Satnam Wahe Guru” at CCRT

To commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji CCRT organized a melodious and gripping play in Daastan style titled “Satnam Wahe Guru” on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was presented on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. at CCRT Main Auditorium, 15 A, Sector 7, Dwarka, New Delhi. Directed by Shri Manish Joshi, who is the recipient of SNA (Yuva Puruskar Awardee).

Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of peace, love, compassion, equality, humility, charity etc was delivered in a very interesting manner by weaving Kabir’s verses, Bulleshah’s kalams and Rumi’s songs into the performance. It was an amalgamation of tradition and innovation.

The artists were from Abhinaya Rangmanch, 616, Sector 15 A,Hisar. Shri Rishi Kumar Vashist, Director, Centre for Cultural Resources and Training inaugurated the function and introduced the audience with new initiatives of CCRT i.e. a beginning of e-portal to increase the coverage of CCRT training programmes, child to child learning i.e. cultural performances by involving three generations such as recognized and established artist, scholarship holder alumni and current scholarship holder and lastly inauguration of CCRT Art Gallery.

Shri A.S. Chhatwal, General Secretary Dwarka Forum supported CCRT in organizing the event. Large number of students from Vandana International School, Dwarka and SGTB Khalsa School, Dev Nagar, New Delhi alongwith the residents of Dwarka were present in the auditorium. The play was very widely appreciated by the attendees and they requested CCRT to organize more such events on a regular basis.
