M. K. GUPTA
Dainik Jagran has in its issued of 1st July (page 14) has reported that govt has short listed four names for the Chief, Central Information Commissioner. These are S. N. Mishra, Annapurna Dixit, M. L. Sharma and Shailesh Gandhi and all are serving ICs. The news does not have the name of Justice Shah, retd. Judge of Delhi High Court. Recently, activists have signed an on-line petition circulated by Shri Milap Choraria for considering the name of Justice Shah. Among the four names mentioned above, the acceptability of Shri M L Sharma is well known and he has not scored good position in the list of Parivartan for the purpose of RTI awards.
I am of the considered opinion that the activists will prefer Justice Shah and Shailesh Gandhi over other names. If so, let us request the Selection Committee to appoint one of them as CCIC.
Please awake, before some yes men walk away with the appointment letter in a clandestine manner and we may have to repent afterwards. We may propose our names to the PM and other members of the Selection Committee.
