Senior Journalist Vivek Shukla Conferred with Media Unity Award at India International Centre

In a proud moment for Indian journalism, eminent journalist, distinguished columnist and noted author Vivek Shukla was conferred with the prestigious Media Unity Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of journalism. The award ceremony was held at the distinguished India International Centre, Lodhi Estate, in the presence of an eminent gathering of intellectuals, policymakers and senior media professionals.

The honour celebrates Shukla’s exceptional body of work spanning nearly four decades. With over 38 years of experience in both Hindi and English media, he has written more than 11,000 articles, features, and reports, including over 2,200 incisive op-eds on contemporary political and social issues. His research-driven approach and ability to bring untold narratives to light have consistently engaged readers across national and regional publications.

The award was presented in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Justice Rishikesh Rai; senior journalist and former MP Shahid Siddiqui; senior journalist-Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla; former Chief Election Commissioner S. Y. Quraishi; senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai;parliamentarian and author Shashi Tharoor. The ceremony witnessed warm applause as Shukla received the accolade.

A Distinguished Editorial Journey
Over the course of his illustrious career, Vivek Shukla has been associated with some of India’s most respected media institutions. As Special Correspondent with Hindustan Times Media Ltd., he covered major national and international developments and conducted exclusive interviews with global leaders. He also served as Senior Editor with Dainik Bhaskar, playing a significant role in strengthening Hindi journalism.

His writings have appeared in leading publications such as The Times of India, Navbharat Times, NDTV, News18, The Tribune, The Economic Times, BBC, and several other prominent platforms. Accredited with the Press Information Bureau (PIB) since 2005, he has closely followed parliamentary proceedings and national policymaking for nearly two decades.

Reporting Defining Moments
Shukla has reported on several landmark events, including the Agra Summit, parliamentary proceedings from 2004 to 2024, the World Economic Conference in Delhi (2007–08), the World Insurance Conference in Cairo (2006), and the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conventions since 2004. These assignments provided him with deep insights into India’s evolving political landscape and its engagement with the global community.

Beyond journalism, Vivek Shukla is widely respected as a chronicler of Delhi’s political and architectural heritage. His notable works include Gandhi’s Delhi – From April 12, 1915 to 30 January 1948 and Beyond, Dilli ke Pehla Pyar: Connaught Place, Shatabdi Yatra – Veer Vitthalbhai Patel (published by Delhi Vidhan Sabha), and the forthcoming Bantwara 1947 – Shesh Sawaal. He has also served as Advisor (History) at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.

A Life Dedicated to Journalism
An alumnus of Meerut University and the University of Delhi, Shukla has also contributed to journalism education as faculty at the University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
