NAGAR KIRTAN IN DWARKA

To commemorate the 554th Birth Anniversary Parkash Purab of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, NAGAR KIRTAN (religious procession) was organised by the Committee of Gurudwara Sahib, Sector-11, Dwarka, New Delhi on Sunday, the 3rd December, 2023 which was routed through different Sectors of Dwarka Sub City.

The Nagar Kirtan started at around 10:30 A.M. from Mohinder Apartments Sector -12, Dwarka and moved towards Radisson Blu Hotel Sector-13 to Chanakya Apartments Chowk, Sector-4. From their, the procession moved towards Lovely Chowk of Sectors 4 & 5 to Sports Complex Crossing of Sectors 5,6,10 & 11 and reached Gurdwara Sahib, Sector -11, Dwarka at around 5:30 P.M, said Davinder Paul Singh, Secretary.

During the entire route, a large number of devotees both residents of Dwarka Sub City as well as from the nearby areas, participated in the Nagar Kirtan. The ‘Panj Pyare’ (the five beloved ones of Guru jee) led the procession, followed by ‘Nagara’ (a form of beating Drum), various Band groups, School Children, Gatka Parties (Sikh Martial Art Groups), Groups of Ladies and children reciting Gurbani Kirtan, said A. The entire procession was carried out under the aegis of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, gracing in a palanquin (Palki Sahib), which was beautifully decorated with flowers.

The devotees cleaned the pathway of Palki Saheb of Guru Granth Saheb jee and showered flowers on the way. Throughout the procession, men, women and children from different religions found reciting the Holy hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

In the procession ‘Gatka Skills’ were demonstrated by young Children with great fervour. The residents of Dwarka distributed sweets and langar to the devotees in their specially installed food stalls created enroute the procession. In his message A. S. Chhatwal said, “Guru Sahib emphasized the need of equality, compassion and unity, guided the people to follow the path of righteousness and love for all”.
