On the occasion of the World Pollution Control Day on 2nd December 2021, South West District Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with Dwarka Forum and the horticulture department of Delhi Development Authority, kickstarted a Tree plantation drive in the DDA Park, near Golok Dham Mandir, Sector-10, Dwarka, New Delhi.. The plantation drive aims to tackle the increasing levels of air pollution in Delhi by making Dwarka greener and cleaner.
National Pollution Control Day is observed every year on 2nd December to commemorate the people who lost their lives during the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy, and raise awareness about the hazards of air pollution. The Delhi NCR region has been under hazardous air quality and experiencing the worst pollution levels, particularly during winters.
In commemoration of the victims of Bhopal gas tragedy and to check the pollution levels and the worsening air quality in the city, Ms. Neha Priya, Ld. Secretary, South West District Legal Services Authority with the members of the Dwarka forum and representatives of the Delhi Development Authority (Horticulture) planted saplings near Fakhrudeen Society, Golak Dham , Sector-10, Dwarka.
This exercise will be undertaken on a monthly basis in different regions of Dwarka coupled with legal awareness sessions on Pollution control laws in India with the objective to encourage maximum number of people to join this initiative. South West DLSA has been doing commendable work in recent times towards spreading legal awareness and providing free legal aid in the region.
South West DLSA will keep the fight against pollution alive in the Dwarka region in collaboration with the Dwarka Forum and DDA horticulture.
