Sri VIS Annual Day reminds of the Eighfold Path of Buddha


Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sec- 18, Dwarka celebrated its Annual Day-VIVAAN by bringing alive the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. 

Shri Dilip K. Bandhopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was visibly moved by the production and exhorted all to understand the teachings of the enlightened one, the Mahatma Buddha asking them to abstain from all sinful, unwholesome actions, perform only pious wholesome ones & purify the mind. 

The Guests of Honour – Shri Raj Pal, Founder Chairman, Gp Capt Ishwar Singh, Advisor Venkateshwar Group of Schools & the School Chairman Mr Sailander Solanki lit the lamp of knowledge. 
It was a moment of great pride for the Sri VIS family to see the fruition of the efforts and talent of young students and their mentor, led by the school Principal Ms Nita Arora. 

The Annual Report; which was presented by the Principal highlighted the promise that the school family has made to itself to follow the noble path and prove by example that victories happen on their own, when you enjoy the task and try to compete with your own self. Paying obeisance to the almighty on the rhythmic beats of the school orchestra, the nimble footed dancers saluted the five elements; making up the existence of this cosmos. 
The stage then came alive with the chants exemplifying the teachings of Lord Buddha. The sheer elegance of the depiction of scenes and narratives and the soulful performance transcended the audience to 2nd-3rd century, when Gautam, renounced a royal existence, to embrace the path of noble truth and gave us the eight fold path to lead a simple, austere and meaningful life. 

It was a day that saw the felicitation of students who excelled through their multifaceted talent. The students and mentors of the Social Responsibility Club, Eco Club, Heritage Club and Global Citizen Club were honoured for their achievements and dedication. 
Trophies and merit certificated were awarded to the students in the categories of Literary Genius, Best Guitarist, Musician, Nrityangna, Creative genius to name a few. The students who proved their mettle in the field of academics were awarded merit certificates and cash prizes. Shaunaq Narindra was awarded the Principal’s Award for Leadership and Vishu Gupta was conferred with the Chairman’s Trophy for Excellence.

The day was witness to the artistic and academic endowments of Sri Venkateshwarites and marked the cherished brilliance exuded through their performances.
