“Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.”
Sri VIS Sector-18, Dwarka is known for its Green School Programme & other Eco-Club activities. It has been conferred the GSP First Rank by the Centre for Science & Environment at the Delhi State level. Continuing with the tradition of spreading the message beyond the school boundaries, Eco-Club of the school, headed by the Principal Mrs. Nita Arora, Ms. Jyoti and Ms. Renu lent support to Mr. P.K. Datta of GreenOlutions for a Kitchen Gardening Workshop. The Workshop held on February 23, 2013 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ujwa, saw the participation of 12 faculty members of Sri VIS, gardeners, teachers and Eco-Club Incharges of three other schools and office bearers of some of the Housing Societies. Some retired Defence Officers and Professors of NSIT also joined with their family members.

The Group was trained by the Horticultural & Agricultural Scientists of KVK. The group got their doubts cleared and felt motivated to practice organic farming for home-grown vegetables. Demonstration on Drip Irrigation, Mushroom Farming and Vermi-Composting added to the learning. Ms. Jyoti brought back samples of wheat plants for showing to the students. The Head of KVK, Dr. R.K. Rana gifted organically grown cabbages to the group. A smaller section of the group also visited Sector-19 Plant Nursery for further knowledge on the seasonal flora of the region. A day well spent for spreading community feeling and bonding among Dwarka residents for the cause of nature and better living.
