Recently, St. Mary’s School Dwarka celebrated its Annual Day . The theme “ For the Love of Sports” presented a unique amalgamation of Sports and various dance forms. Ms. Shalini Kothamasi informed Dwarka Parichay that the Chief Guest for the day was Air Commodore IP Vipin, VM, who, hoisted the school flag and inspected the NCC parade. Ms. Sheelu Mathew-The Principal of the school, presented the School’s Annual report.
The function began with a dance performance as the students sought the blessings of the Almighty. The school choir and the school Band presented the theme Song for the day. The audience was enthralled by the blending of sports such as chess being depicted in Manipuri style and combining of tactical sport of khokho with graceful moves of kathak. The kathakali dancers took centre stage and showcased the game of basketball and football. Students also presented kabaddi in chau style, yoga asanas to meditative music and intricate moves of skating, gymnastics and popular martial art form Taekwondo.
The students of the Aasman -section for the differently abled, also presented a special performance on the theme song. They received thunderous applause for their efforts. The program culminated with an enchanting Bhawai dance performance. As the darkness descended upon the guests, the students of class XI and XII lit up the sky with an enchanting torch drill.
The Chief Guest appreciated the school’s efforts in providing holistic education to the students through inculcation of humanistic values, providing academic excellence and exposure to co curricular activities and sports.
