Recently, St.Mary’s School, Dwarka celebrated Republic day as part of the much awaited Class Day of class V. The preparations started a month ago with lots of planning and enthusiasm. The programme commenced with flag hoisting by the chief guest Air Commodore Sunil Kumar, VSM who was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Rupa Kumar. It was followed bymarch past by NCC boys and girls along with the school band which played the tunes of the song ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’. Patriotic song ‘coming home’ and ‘Jai Jana Bharat’ were sung as a solemn reminder of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle.
A tableau depicting the fundamental rights and duties was applauded by one and all. Then, the talented students presented their well choreographed dance moves from different states of India depicting her as a land with ‘unity in diversity’. The programme concluded with the chief guest addressing the gathering. He congratulated the students for putting up an enthralling show and appreciated their efforts and hardwork for the wonderful visual treat. It was followed bythe prize distribution ceremony, where prizes were given to the winning house, classes and students in various competitions. Aastha House Prefects and their House Mistress, Ms. Sangita Maria lifted the trophy for the seniors while Shakti House was adjudged the best house for the Juniors.
