Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust celebrates the 6th Hum Kishore festival


The Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust—NGO, working towards the adolescent and women issues celebrated the Grand finale of 6th Hum kishore festival in Kamani auditorium in the national capital here. Smt. Krishna Tirath, Hon’ble Minister for Women & Child Development, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour was Shri Vineet Joshi, IAS, Chairman, Central board of school education (CBSE). 

Speaking at the occasion, Smt. Tirath said that the children are the future of the country, and there is a need to invest in their social and economic well being. She further added that the responsibility for ensuring their wellbeing rests with the society, community and the families as much as it lies with the leaders. She stated that the Government of India has consistently made efforts to improve the status of women and children in the country. Lauding the working of the URIVI NGO for the last two decades, Smt Tirath congratulated UVCT Chairman, Dr U N B Rao (IPS), former Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police for relentlessly working towards the betterment of society especially the children and women. She also spoke about the relevance of the Hum kishore festival and said that such activities are very important in the overall development of the children. 

Smt. Tirath, Honorable Minister for Women & Child Development also released a souvenir and gave away the sponsors of this event. She lauded the support of PSUs like BHEL towards the improvement of the communities. Smt Tirath gave away mementos to the Sponsors like BHEL and the co-hosts Ms. Jyoti Arora, Prinicple Mtu. Abu, Rohini and BVB School trophy was taken by Ms. Madaan..

Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman and Secretary of CBSE said that his department is involved deeply in the school reforms, that includes major initiatives Continuous and Comprehensive Education, replacing marks with grades, replacing the Board examination with school based assessment and the introduction of Monitoring and Mentoring scheme for implementation of CCE in the right spirit. He lauded these initiatives and said that these kinds of initiatives are imperative and viable under CCE. 

Attractive Rolling Trophies were awarded to Schools and medals/mementos for ’runner-ups’ by Ms. Urivi Chaya, Vice chairperson ,UVCT in presence of Sh. Sarin, General secretary, UVCT, DR. Rao, Chairman UVCT, Kapil Chopra ,Vice chairperson UVCT, Negi Treasure UVCT and Mr.Anil Dhar , Regional head , Deutsche Bank . These competitions for adolescent students in 15 items started on 29th April and ended on 3rd May, 2013. 

Earlier, Dr. U. N. B. Rao, chairperson of the Trust while welcoming the guests said that Smt Tiraths blessings have always been there for the trust. He said that trust main aim is to do their best in changing the communities. He said that the trust is functioning in six centers in Delhi and 5 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra besides in USA. The compeering for the whole event was done by Ms. Vishala Jadav, General Secretary, Maharashtra chapter and Ms. Manorama Bakshi, CEO Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust. Dr. Rao, Chairperson, UVCT thanked BHEL, REC, NBCC, Deutsche Bank, Directorate of family welfare for their valuable support.
