“Strength doesn’t come from winning; your struggles develop your strengths”. The concept of developing stronger, better and more confident personalities was the underlying principle of ‘Athkheliyan 2010’, the Annual Inter-School series of competitions. This commitment of S.V.I.S. family for developing Multiple Intelligences in children was held on 26th August, 2010. SVIS played host to 280 participants from Classes Pre-School to IInd from 28 prestigious schools of Delhi.
‘Athkheliyan 2010’ generated immense interest in creative arts, physical fitness and IT skills. The event was declared open by Ms. Nita Arora, Principal S.V.I.S., who along with other dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The panel of eminent judges for the event included Mr. Akhilesh Pandey (Journalist), Ms. Savitri Singh (Head, IIT Campus Play School), Mr. Pratiyush (Theatre Dir.), Ms. Savita & Ms. Neeru Bhargava (Dance Gurus). The events were designed keeping in mind the inclination and the age group of the participants. Special venues were designated for different competitions like Skill Relay, MS-Paint, Creativity with sensitivity, Indian Folk Dance, Clay Moulding, Bal Kavi, Story Retold. The competition was of very high caliber and one was left marvelling at the competence of the young ones. The auditorium was filled with feelings of thrill, apprehension and excitement when the prize distribution ceremony began. The winners for various events were declared and were honoured with certificates of merit, medals and trophies by Mr. Sailander Solanki Chairman S.V.I.S., Principal SVIS, Ms. Nita Arora and the panel of judges. The host school displayed true sportsmanship and did not compete for the trophies. Therefore, the positions were upgraded for the other schools. The Third & Second Runners up were Venkateshwar Global School, Rohini with 130 points & Venkateshwar Ineternational School, Sector-10 with 140 points respectively. The First Runners up was Indraprastha International School with a total of 160 points and the winner of the event was S.V.I.S. with a high score of 270 points. The Overall Rolling Trophy was graciously passed on to Indraprastha International School, Dwarka.
In her vote of thanks Ms. Nita Arora congratulated all the participants, mentors and their parents for being a part of this magnificent journey called ‘Athkheliyan’ where ‘We all are best’ echoed, rather than ‘I am the best!’. She dedicated the competition to the talent of the students and emphasized on the role of a teacher in exploring the true potential of the students. She motivated schools to think beyond academics and encouraged them to nurture and nourish the child holistically.
The event was a grand success and left an indelible print on the personalities of the students.
