Delhi Team to Participate in National Armwrestling Championship 2026 in Gujarat

23rd May 26: New Delhi: The Armwrestling Association of New Delhi (AAD), in association with the Punjabi Bagh Club, organized a special “Delhi Armwrestling Team Best Wishes Ceremony” at the Auditorium of Punjabi Bagh Club, New Delhi. The event was held to encourage and honor the players and officials who will represent Delhi in the National Armwrestling and Para Armwrestling Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from May 29 to June 2, 2026, at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

This prestigious championship will witness participation from nearly 2,500 male and female athletes representing more than 30 States and Union Territories across India. The championship will also serve as the selection trial for the Indian team that will represent the country at the 47th World Armwrestling Championship 2026, which is scheduled to be hosted in Delhi later this year.

On this occasion, office bearers of the Armwrestling Association of New Delhi including Ravinder Gupta, Roshanlal Gorakhpuriya, Vijay Manav, Satish Jindal, Laxman Singh Bhandari, Yogesh Kumar, Sanjay Deswal, Kirtika Bamel, along with Punjabi Bagh Club President Gurinder Pal Singh (Raju), Subhash Chand Aggarwal and several distinguished guests motivated the athletes and extended their best wishes for outstanding performances at the National Championship.

General Secretary and Coach Laxman Singh Bhandari stated that the Delhi team’s preparations and training are progressing exceptionally well. He further said that Delhi secured the second Overall Runner-Up position in last year’s National Championship, and this year the team is fully determined to deliver an even better performance and bring greater glory to Delhi.

He also added that the 47th World Armwrestling Championship is going to be hosted in Delhi this year, and he is confident that many players from Delhi will secure selection through the National Championship.
