“Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi”, “Senior Citizens Association, Dwarka” and “Dwarka Forum” jointly carried out a cleaning drive in Dwarka Sector-6 District park and the surrounding area on 1st November 2014. About fifty enthusiastic members of these social organizations, mostly senior citizens, joined hands in this noble event. A meeting of the participants was held after cleaning the area to discuss further plan for expansion of this activity. Number of other people present in the area also joined. Shri Balbir Singh Yadav, President “Senior Citizens Association” addressed the gathering. Mr. Sushil Kumar, President ‘Dwarka Forum’ and S.K. Kappor, General Secretary of ‘Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi’ supplemented the views of Shri Yadav. The event was convened by Col S.K. Rana of “Senior Citizens Association”.
Capt S.S. Mann of ‘Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi’ Sanstha (SDKS) informed that his ‘Sanstha’ was engaged in cleaning of roads, footpaths and parks of Sector 22 and 23 for past few years with the help of Local Municipal Corporation and DDA Horticulture Department staff. It was decided on 2nd October this year to involve Co-operative Group Housing Societies (CGHS) and DDA flats RWA staff together with residents of the area for regular cleaning of the surroundings of their residential premises, “the response is encouraging and other social organizations i.e. ‘Dwarka’ Forum and ‘Ek Sangharsh’ have extended their hands to expand this activity to entire Dwarka”, Capt Mann said. “Today’s programme was organized by Senior Citizen Association, Dwarka in the same sequence”, he further added. Capt Mann also praised the efforts of Mr. D.C. Mathur of ‘Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi’ for coordinating the event and future plan.
“Almost all the societies in Dwarka Sectors 22 and 23 have started deploying their staff for cleaning their outside area from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on each Saturday as a co-ordinated programme, in addition to the regular cleaning on other days by quite a few of the societies and few of the residents.” another SDKS member Shri Prem Bihari Mishra said. “We are in constant touch with office bearers of the CGHS Management Committees and DDA pocket RWAs as well as South Delhi Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Shri Suresh Yadav of Nazafgarh zone, to mobilize their resources”, he added.
Assistant Director of DDA Horticulture Department, Mr. Sharma was also present on this occasion. Shri Sharma apprised the people of the steps being taken by the Horticulture Department Dwarka for improvement in the DDA parks and assured of his personal attention in the process. During discussion about sanitation and hygiene he informed that new dust bins have already been provided in few of the parks and sufficient number of the dust bins will be provided in all the parks of DDA in Dwarka, shortly.
