New Delhi (August 15, 2019): Elections for new Executive of the Delhi Journalists Association (DJA) for the term 2019-2021 have been declared by Returning Officer Hemant Vishnoi today. Shri Vishnoi was unanimously appointed Returning Officer for the election at the Executive Meeting of DJA held on August 10, 2019. DJA is a premier organisation of working journalists in the national capital and is affiliated to the National Union of Journalists of (India).
According to the Election Notification, released by Returning Officer Hemant Vishnoi, the elections will be for post of one President, four Vice-Presidents, one General Secretary, three Secretaries, one Treasurer and 15 Executive Members as desired in the DJA Constitution. As per the election schedule, the last date of filing the nominations is August 19, 2019. Scrutiny of the nomination forms would be done on August 20.
The last date of withdrawal of nominations is August 24. Polling, if necessary, would be held at DJA Office on September 7 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The counting of votes will be done the same day.
According to Shri Vishnoi, the DJA members who file their nominations must ensure that their membership fees upto December 2018 & other arrears have been cleared. “No nomination will be considered valid if the membership fees of the candidate and his/her proposer and seconder is not clear up to December 2018. Only those members shall be qualified for voting whose membership fee up to December 2018 is clear by the day of voting,” the notification said.
