HIGH WATER CHARGES & HANDING OVER WATER SUPPLY TO DJB

On the visit by Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister last week, demand was raised to hand over the water supply to Delhi Jal Board from the DDA. The DJB is supplying bulk quantity at bulk rate to the DDA and in turn after adding booster and other charges, the DDA is levying very high tariff. At present, DDA is supplying the ater at Rs. 6.28 per kilo litre. The issue of draw of CGHS societies was also raised and the CM assured to look into the issue and find out an amicable solution. In 2005, DDA increased the traff to Rs 13 per kl but the High Court has stayed that at Rs. 6.28 per kl. She was also requested to expedite the constructin of Government hospital, the foundation stone of which was laid by her.

M K Gupta of Dwarka Forum has already filed an RTI application to the DDA for informing the amount being paid by it to DJB for water, information on formula of fixing the water charges by the DDA. Now, the Forum plans to get information from the Haryana Government about the status of the completion of Munak Canal. DF also plans to obtain information on the issue from the Delhi government about the date of completion of Water Treatment Plant at Sector 16, status of laying of pipelines for the supply of water from the WTP and on other allied issues.
