RAVAN DAHAN –TWO FUNCTIONS IN SAME COMPLEX –  HOLD THEM AT TWO DIFFERENT SPOTS IN DWARKA

Unlike every year, this year Ravan Dahan on Dushhera was undertaken at the same Dushheera Ground in Sector 11 by two different organizations.   Dwarka sub city has a vast area with large population and, therefore, it would be better it is celebrated at two or more spots in Dwarka so that more Worksites can witness this near there houses.  I understand that there is no such big celebration around sector 3/13 or around sector 22/23 and the residents of that area either have to go to other places for witnessing the same or come at sector 11 near Sports Complex in Dwarka. I am confident that celebration at some new site will be big success by drawing large devotees with little publicity. Religious ceremonies should be kept over and above the day-to-day politics and ego clashes.  Ego was responsible for the tormental fall of “Dashanan”, who was otherwise said to be very literate (vidvaan) and a warrior who held the “Devatas” in his captivity for long.

POST OF INFORMATION COMMISSIONERS SHOULD NOT BE OFFERED AS BONUS FOR BEING LOYAL TO POLITICIANS.

By November end, it is learnt that 22 posts of Information Commissioners at CIC and in different State Information Commissions will fall vacant. Before the appointment to these posts take place, there should be some transparent system of short-listing the candidates before placing their names to the three-member Committee headed by the Prime Minister. If we want fair and fearless working at the Commissions without any outside hidden interference, posts of Information Commissioners should not be doled out as a bonus to the persons for being loyal to one or other politician but should be given on the basis of merit.  In the recent past, just before the last general election, Ms. Omita Pal was appointed as Central Information Commissioner and after the victory of the UPA again, she resigned, after working for few days and rejoined as an officer under Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Union Minister.
