Festivals add colour and joys in our lives. They also keep us in touch with our customs and traditions. Keeping this in mind ,Lohri , the Harvest Festival, was celebrated in the campus of Paramount International School on 13th Jan’12. The mood on the campus was upbeat and the students were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The celebration started with an impressive speech in English highlighting the importance of the festival and its different methods of celebration all over India ,as it ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter.
Thereafter, the M.D. Mrs. R.L .Saroha wished the students and the staff members .She also dwelled upon the importance of such festivals. The students, staff and management of the school celebrated the day with traditional fervour by lighting a bonfire. The students danced on the tunes of a specially invited professional group playing the Punjabi Dhol and munched on peanuts, rewri and popcorns. The Bhangra and Gidha presented by the students was applauded by all. All those present on the occasion got into the spirit of Lohri and enjoyed the fun and frolic. The celebration ended with a very festive mood as Lohri is indeed a grand event of social and cultural integration.
