NATIONAL BOOK TRUST, INDIA is organising a four-week book publishing course beginning on 10 July 2018 under skill development initiatives. The course was inaugurated today at NBT’s New Delhi headquarters premises at 10:00 am. Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, member secretary of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi, was the chief guest. The BPC conducted by NBT has received enormous response from all over the India. Thirty participants across the country are participating the course. Some of the participants enrolled for the course have even got Ph.D; M.Tech; and B.Tech degrees.
Even as eBooks have come in use, charm of physical form of books shall remain forever and keep on attracting the readers towards it, Dr.Joshi said on the occasion. He exhorted the participants to emulate highest standards set by other publishers saying that publishing is an ideal profession for bringing in positive changes in life and the society.
NBT Chairman Prof. Baldeo Bhai Sharma said that training courses in book publishing have caught attention of all stakeholders in the publishing field creating job opportunities for the trainees. He said that these courses have attracted good response even in remote areas including North East.
Dr Rita Chowdhury, Director NBT on the occasion said that NBT is mandated to promote reading habit. And the same can be achieved only when the industry has got adequate trained professionals in the publishing field.
