R.D. Bhardwaj “Noorpuri”
Ref. news item UP Cong Chiefs remarks spark all-out caste battle – HT dated the 17th July, 2009. It was really very painful and sickening to note that Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who is also UP Congress President, has commented on UP Chief Minister, Ms. Mayawati, in such a foul and unparliamentary language. Her remarks assume all the more alarming ramification as they have come from mouth of person who is not only a woman herself, but also chief of a national level political party. She has been able to speak in such a dirty and malicious language as it was directed against a person who belongs to the SC community. By speaking so, she has not only shown her mental state of mind in which it works, but it has also lowered the esteem and prestige of all the women-folks of India. Such a person certainly does not deserve to be a leader of a party and Congress party should have sacked her immediately from the post of UP Congress President; because, its maintaining a stony silence over the matter casts aspersions on its thinking and attitude towards the SC/ST community, who constitute more than 25% of Indias population. Simultaneously, it also reveals that Rahul Gandhis visiting the homes of SC people during elections and giving them sense of assurance of belongingness, was in fact, just an enacted drama to garner maximum number of votes.
And lastly, if Rita Bahuguna really has guts to speak in such a disparaging language against womanhood , why she does not speak in such a manner against Sonia Gandhi, Sushma Swaraj, Varinda Karat, Uma Bharti or Menaka Gandhi and then see, in what way the counter wind blows.
