Aiming to provide an intense training on teaching Sanskritas well as to incorporate the modern and interactive techniques in the pedagogy to make the teaching more effective at the secondary level, a one-day workshop was held in the premises of N.K. Bagrodia Public School on 10th December 2018. The workshop was organized by New Saraswati Publication keeping in mind the objective of promoting and highlighting the richness of the classical language, Sanskrit.
The workshop began with the recitation of divine hymns followed by lighting of lamps. The principal of the school, Dr. (Mrs.) Rajee.N.Kumar felicitated the spokesperson, Mr. Upendra Kumar Sashtri, with a bouquet of flowers and in return, was welcomed by the prominent members of the New Saraswati Publication.
The event was attended by the fellow teachers of about twenty schools in Delhi. In the first half of the workshop, the esteemed speaker, in his lecture emphasized on achieving proficiency in the four basic skills in Sanskrit language, namely-reading, writing, speaking and listening. In the later half, however, the same was demonstrated clearly through the help of several activities to the teachers. Numerous task-based learning activities were spoken about and discussed to make Sanskrit teaching and learning interactive and useful for both teachers and the students among which direct demonstrations, riddles, shlokochharan and conversation (samvad) were primarily laid stress on.
The workshop culminated with the distribution of certificates and a vote of thanks to the resource person for the successful completion of the event. The workshop was beneficial for the teachers in providing a new direction for teaching the language.
