MBS International School, Dwarka in line with its philosophy of encouraging children to stay healthy held Sports Fiesta 2010 on 18th Dec’2010.The Director welcomed all the parents and shared with them the launching of Fire Sports Academy at MBS imparting training in lawn tennis, basket ball and skating to begin with. Other sports will be added gradually. It was an opportunity for all children to hone their skills in the area of their interest.
The event began with School Captain marching in holding the school flag, leading all members of student council and the teams for various sport events to the sports arena. The pride of MBSians eager to showcase their performances was evident, yet the calmness and composure of even the lil ones for Anubhuti –the school prayer for well being of every one was worth appreciating. The school motto_ Where the mind is without fear, Body is healthy and Soul is pure echoed in the air concluding with the famous lines of Rabindranath Tagore-Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever widening thought and action into that heaven of freedom, my Father let my country awake. It was a mesmerizing performance portraying the vision where mind, body and soul amalgamate into one.
Taekwondo team of MBSians displayed their skills in self-defense with full vigor. The art of handling a group of six miscreants by Srishti of grade 6 truly depicted the essence of taekwondo training as part of curriculum at MBS. Aryan, Vatsal and Aditya of grade I and II enthralled the audience by displaying techniques of physical movements and mind training with their tile breaking demonstrations. Skating team led by Drishti Sehrawat of grade 3 skated through various configurations to display their confidence of body balance, team spirit and leadership qualities.
The lil MBSians’ Jagvi,Rania,Avijeet’s action performance on rhymes, Bhavansh, Aryan & Krish’s road safety rules and above all dramatization of a story by Vision,Aditya, Chitransh to appeal for ‘nurture nature for our future’ received a hearty applaud from all parents.
Lawn Tennis and Cricket training, even though at its nascent stage at MBS had students performing the basic techniques to let the parents know that they are on track to make a mark in future.
Highlight of the program was the basket ball match between Curie and Teresa house. It was a spectacular show by Curie house to sail to victory by 6 baskets scored by Karan of grade 6 in 2nd half of match. Cheering their respective teams, the house members were in unison with parents.
The fiesta concluded with a vibrant school song depicting the persona traits of a true MBSian. Head Mistress thanked all the parents, students, staff and support staff for their contribution for the successful hosting of the event.
