Sri VIS, Dwarka wins the National & Delhi Green School Award 2012


Recently, Sri Venkateshwar International School was conferred the Award for the Best New School at the NCR of Delhi level by Ms Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi at the India Habitat Centre. The Award Ceremony was organized by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) for initiative and excellence in natural resources management under the Green School Programme (GSP).

The school was adjudged third at the National Level and received another trophy from Mr B M S Rathore, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ms Sunita Narayan, Director CSE.

The School Orchestra of Sri VIS, `The Fangs’ also won the Best School Band Award at the national level. They rendered a song `The Realization’ on climate change and tried to awaken the mankind to undo the damage caused to the environment by adopting sustainable practices for eco-conservation. The song was written and composed by Mr Abhishek Sharma, the music teacher of Sri VIS. Master Soham Ray and Master Pranav Suri were the lead vocalists. Shaunak Narindra, Sanyam Jain, Ramit Kalra, Satvik Chander, Aryamik Chander and Namit Pandey gave support on the musical instruments.

Mr Sailander Solanki Chairman & Ms Nita Arora, Principal of Sri Venkateshwar International School as the chief patrons of GSP initiative of school promised to take the message to community with the support of SVIS family. They also felicitated the GSP team comprising of students and staff members- Ms Jyoti Chikkara GSP Coodinator , Mr Harish Sharma, Ms Priya Braria, Ms Malini Pandey, Ms Renuka Chander, Ms Reetu Durga, Ms Jasleen, Ms Sheelam, Ms Leena Jha, Mr UdayYadav, Ms Deepali Pillewar, Ms Renu, Mr Inder and Mr Prakash.The green brigade of Sri VIS is charged up to adopt more eco-friendly measures for sustainable development.
