WORLD HEALTH DAY CELEBRATED AT N.K.BAGRODIA PUBLIC SCHOOL, DWARKA

WHO is the United Nations specialized agency for Health. It is an inter- governmental organization and works in collaboration with its member states usually through the Ministries of Health. WHOs objective is the attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health.

World Health Day is celebrated on 7 April to mark the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. Each year a theme is selected for World Health Day that highlights a priority area of public health concern in the world.

The theme for 2013 is high blood pressure. High blood pressure – also known as raised blood pressure or hypertension – increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure. If left uncontrolled, high blood pressure can also cause blindness, irregularities of the heartbeat and heart failure.

In the light of the World Heath Day and its theme for 2013 , a programme was held on 12th April 2013 , in N.K. Bagrodia Public School , Sector IV , Dwarka. The purpose was to educate the children about high blood pressure/ hypertension, its causes , how to avoid the risks and hence advocate healthy eating and living.

The programme commenced with a speech in the assembly time pertaining to the World Health Day 2013 (theme- High Blood Pressure). A series  of health oriented activities were scheduled for students of various classes.

The programme was very successful as it solved its purpose of educating the children, enough that they would understand the relevance of healthy living and incorporate it in their daily routine and lifestyle and avoid the risks of hypertension. Not only did the children keenly participate in all the activities but also contributed quite a lot to the whole programme.
