ORIENTATION PROGRAMME CONDUCTED FOR CLASS – 1 at NKBPS, DWARKA


“A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.”
The school organized an orientation programme for the parents of Grade I on 7th April, 2018 in the school. The aim was to familiarize the parents as ‘partners in progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities. 

The session started with a welcome address by the school Principal Dr. (Mrs.)Rajee .N. Kumar who shared the school’s vision and commitment to providing quality education and as to how we ensure that “Every Child is Special” to us through our day to day interaction with each child.The School Principal also discussed and shared a few guidelines on effective parenting.

The Incharge of the Primary Wing Mrs. Richa Goel, conducted the program and gave an insight into teaching methodology and school rules through a brief PPT presentation. One of the objectives of the orientation program was to demonstrate how the curriculum involves self-directed, hands-on learning activities which not only give vent to the child’s creative talents and energies but also help in all-round holistic development of the child.

In her speech she laid stress on the holistic development of the child which is the main aim and objective of the school. Furthermore, parents were briefed about the‘School Going Digital” through ERP for successful school parent communication. The parents were given a live demo as to how they can obtain their ward’s I D Card,Worksheets, Escort card, Report Cards, Fee Receipts etc. Steps which need to be followed for uploading the school Identity Card data were also discussed in detail. While addressing the parents Ms. Richa Goel said that the creative curriculum offers children plenty of opportunities to exhibit creative behavior. Such a curriculum will emphasize on independent learning, self–initiated projects and experimentation.

The teachers Of Class 1 gave an overview of various subjects like English, Math, Environmental Science, and Hindi and not to forget the co-scholastic activities which provided the parents with an assurance that the curriculum involves hands-on learning activities which not only are a vent to the creative talents and energies of the children but also help in their all-round development. The teachers gave detailed information about the learning parameters/learning outcomes and stressed upon the innovative teaching and learning methodologies followed in the school. Lastly, the parents were briefed about the evaluation system and few important tips were shown to the parents.

The session was concluded by Ms. Jagmeet the head of the SEN department who readily answered the questions of the parents. While addressing the parents, Ms.Jagmeet said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body so it is therefore important to follow a healthy regime in our day to day life so as to bring out the best in our child.She further said that today’s children must be given the chance to develop their creativity to the fullest.

The orientation programme ended on a good note with an aim of growing our children into happy, skillful and creatively well- adjusted citizens.It was concluded that parents play a vital role in the educational system and they need to fully co-operate with the school, honour its rules and procedures so that the teachers can work together with them for the optimum development of their wards.
