23rd April, 2012. The 155th Victorious Day of Freedom Fighter Veer Kunwar Singh celebrated in President House with great enthusiasm. Hon’ble President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
The celebration started with a patriotic song devoted to great Indian freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh ji. On this occasion, Sh. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Dr. Karan Singh , Sh.Janardan Dwivedi and Hon’ble paid their tributes to Freedom Fighter Veer Kunwar Singh and appreciated his contribution in first revolt of 1857. Sh.Nirmal Kumar Singh along with Sh.Mahabal Mishra presented the portrait & a citation of Veer Kunwar Singh to Hon’ble President on behalf of Veer Kunwar Singh Foundation. Mr.Mukesh Kumar Singh-An active member of the foundation honoured Hon’ble President with a shawl.
Dr.Devi Singh Sekhawat, Sh.Rajeshwar Singh-Vice President Bihar-JDU, Sh.V.P.Tandon-Chairman Vandana International School, Dwarka and several Members of the foundation graced the function with their presence at the function held in Rashtrapati Bhawan. In the last, Sh.Bhism Narayan Singh paid the vote of thanks.
Brief Details of Veer Kunwar Singh:
Veer Kunwar Singh (1777–1858), one of the leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, belonged to a royal Kshatriya (Rajput) house of Jagdispur, currently a part of Bhojpur district, Bihar. At the age of 80 years, during India’s First War of Independence(1857), he actively led a select band of armed soldiers against the troops under the command of the East India Company, and also recorded victories in many battles.
Kunwar Singh, zamindar of Jagdispur, was born in 1777, Jagdispur, near Arrah in Bihar. He belongs to Panwar/Parmar (Ujjain Rajputs as they are locally known in Bihar or in and around his birth place). His ancestors belong to the dynasty of the great Raja Vikramaditya as well as Raja Bhoj of Malwa. Babu Kunwar Singh was nearly eighty and in failing health when he was called upon to take up arms. The great warrior that he was, he gave a good fight and harried British forces for nearly a year and remained invincible till the end.
Good presentation, congratulations ! What about Haji Begum of Sasaram, known as Jhansi Ki Rani of Bihar of Mohalla Pathan Toli of Sasaram, who fought for freedom by leading army of Veer Kunwar Singh from purdah in 1857 ? She hid Singh in her mohalla. Had she not helped, Singh would have vanished. Muslim freedom fighters are mostly neglected by Hindu India. Mewa Ram Gupta Saturia wrote a book on Muslim Freedom Fighters saying that 5,00,000 Muslims sacrificed lives since 1857 for India's freedom. His book : Muslim Mujahideen has given names of many of them. Publisher : Kitab Dar, Mumbai-400008, India . Saturia's commentary was coming on AIR too in 70s. He was from Kanpur, died in 1982 in the age of 102 uears.

Mewaram Gupta Saturia wrote a book on Muslim Freedom fighters, saying on the last page that not less than 5 lakh Muslims laid their lives for freedom of Indiasince 1857.
