Hence, to mark this memorable occasion, which also coincided with the World Health Day, our school organized a Walkathon Championship with an aim to promote a healthier lifestyle, which can be achieved by walking. Henry David Thoreau has rightly said, “An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day” because regular longer walks not only increases our chance of living longer but also helps us get more energy, lose weight and stay healthy and positive. What better way to create awareness regarding walking than to do it on World Health Day whose this year theme is “from farm to plate, make food safe”.
There were two categories, category A for adults and Category B for the students. The event brought together over 1500 adults and students of the host school and others to participate in this valuable competition. The participants braving the morning drizzle patiently listened to the rules of the competition which was followed by flagging off the event by the estimable chief guests and respected Principal Madam. The competition for both the categories took place separately. Accompanied by their teachers, the young participants marched out of the school gates with great excitement and zeal to win the competition. The adult participants were equally competitive and thrilled about the event. The event was meticulously managed with all the concerned teachers stationed at their check posts along with their volunteers who not only looked after the needs of the participants but also keenly observed whether the participants were following the rules or not. After the event was over the participants of both the categories were given the refreshments and medical assistance which were successfully managed by Ms Prateema Khandelwal and her team and Dr. Kasturia from Akash Medical healthcare respectively.
The competition was followed by the Prize giving ceremony, which was graced by our venerable chief guests, Mrs NK Bagrodia madam, the Chairperson of NK Bagrodia Public School and Mr. KK Dhanuka , trustee member of our school, who were welcomed and felicitated by respected Principal Madam. The first prize was won by Mr Tekram Hooda in Category A and Vishal Gahlawat of Maxfort Public school in category B. The winners were awarded by the esteemed chief guests, Mrs N.K Bagrodia Madam, Mr. Yashbir Dabas, trustee members of the Management committee and respected Principal Madam.
