Mr Satish Parekh, one of well know highway developers and a road safety expert has taken over as President of India Chapter of International Road Federation , the Geneva based global road safety body working for better and safer roads world wide.
The Governing Council of the International Road Federation on 4th September 2021 unanimously endorsed Mr. Satish Parakh as President, IRF-IC. He takes over from Dr. Subhmay Gangopadhyay, Former Director, CRRI.
Mr. Satish Parakh is the Promoter and Managing Director of Ashoka Buildcon Ltd, one of the largest highway developers from India. Besides leading the leading infrastructure company, Ashoka Buildcon has created and maintained an image that stands for Speed, Quality, Consistency, Environmental Consciousness and Safety Standards and have earned accolades both in India and abroad.
Ashoka Buildcon introduced their formal road safety mission under the banner of ‘’The Ashoka Road Safety Campaign” in 2014. Conducted annually in January every year, the campaign includes Road Safety Lessons in Schools and Colleges, Interactive Sessions with Truck/Bus Drivers, Free Eye/Health Check Up Camps, Public Awareness through Public Address Systems, distribution of road safety manuals, etc. The Company entered into the Guinness World Records in 2017 for ‘’Largest Road Safety Lesson’’ which comprised 2,700 participants.
“As per the United Nations Decade of action for Road Safety 2021-2030 road traffic deaths and injuries have to be reduced by 50 % by the year 2030 . India is signatory to the UN resolution The Indian government plans to cut the number of highway accidents by half by 2030 , and we have to play a big role in this by monitoring every aspect of highway safety management and adopting best international practices, and bring them to India.” Said Mr Satish Parekh, new International Road Federation , India Chapter (IRF-IC) .
