Prof. S.S. Dogra in conversation with Akash Rajesh Gahlot, Chairman & Chief
Patron, Dwarka Ramlila Society
A Rain-Soaked Challenge Turned into Triumph
On Tuesday, 30th September 2025, the national capital witnessed continuous heavy rainfall that disrupted most Ramlilas across Delhi. The 9th night performance of Dwarka Ramlila too seemed nearly impossible. Yet, with the blessings of Lord Rama and the tireless efforts of the society’s dedicated volunteers, the show went on. For more than four hours, the team worked
relentlessly to clear the waterlogging at the Dwarka Sector-10 Ramlila Ground. What could have been a night of disappointment turned into yet another testament of commitment, devotion, and teamwork.
Nationwide Recognition of Dwarka Ramlila
Over the years, Dwarka Ramlila has earned a prestigious reputation, attracting national leaders and dignitaries. The event was graced by Honourable President Ram Nath Kovind in 2024, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended in both 2019 and 2023. Several Cabinet Ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Kiren Rijiju, have also marked their presence at this grand cultural celebration. Such distinguished participation has elevated Dwarka Ramlila from a local festivity to a cultural landmark of national significance.
The First Edition Without Shri Rajesh Gahlot Ji
This 14th edition, however, carried a special emotional weight. For the first time, the Ramlila was organized without the guiding presence of Late Shri Rajesh Gahlot ji, senior BJP leader, former MLA, and Dy. Mayor of Delhi. He had been the pillar of strength and vision behind the Ramlila for years. Yet, before his passing, he had already resolved to dedicate this year’s edition to “Operation Sindoor”, a noble cause close to his heart. His son, Akash Rajesh Gahlot, Chairman and Chief Patron of the society, along with the entire team, has ensured that his father’s legacy continues with the same zeal and grandeur.
Faith, Dedication, and Lord Rama’s Blessings
Despite the obstacles, the Ramlila society remains steadfast in its mission to serve the devotees and preserve this glorious cultural tradition. As Akash Rajesh Gahlot emphasizes, “Lord Rama’s blessings are always with us. Challenges may come, but with faith, teamwork, and dedication, nothing is impossible.” The successful conclusion of the rain-soaked 9th night performance is a shining example of that spirit.
With 13 successful editions already behind them and the 14th shining brightly despite the odds, Dwarka Ramlila Society continues to inspire with its devotion, discipline, and determination. The legacy of Rajesh Gahlot ji lives on through the commitment of his son and the entire team—making Dwarka Ramlila not just a festive event, but a living cultural heritage for the nation.
