IDDA Launches National Para Darts Training & Selection Camp in Noida Ahead of Selangor Open

The Indian Disability Darts Association (IDDA) has commenced a two-day National Training and Selection Camp for the Indian Para Darts team in Noida as part of its strategic preparations for the upcoming Selangor Open in Malaysia.

Selected players from across the country, representing both the standing and wheelchair categories, are participating in the intensive camp aimed at sharpening India’s competitive edge at the international level. The initiative reflects IDDA’s continued commitment to strengthening para sports and creating a robust platform for athletes with disabilities.

The camp is focused on technical refinement, match simulation exercises, and score enhancement strategies. Specialised sessions are being conducted on the balance and handling of 24–26 gram darts, optimal board positioning, angle assessment, precision targeting, and effective finishing techniques under tournament-like conditions.

Chief Coach Shailesh Kumar conducted comprehensive sessions on international rules and regulations, advanced scoring systems, and clinical finishing techniques. Addressing the participants, he emphasised, “Darts is not merely a game of the hand; it is equally a game of patience, concentration and mental discipline.”

IDDA General Secretary Mahendra Singh led mental conditioning workshops, guiding athletes through meditation practices and psychological strategies to maintain composure under pressure. The training schedule also included doubles and triples accuracy drills, high-pressure round simulations, and tactical match-play assessments overseen by senior technical officials.

The camp was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Chief Guest Dr. Anita Lodhi, Former MLA from Dibai, Bulandshahr, who lauded the association’s efforts in promoting inclusive sports and encouraged the athletes to strive for excellence at the global level. Among other dignitaries who graced the occasion were IDDA Patron Dr. Uttam Ojha, President Ankur Gupta, Treasurer Santosh Gupta, along with Pankaj, Alok Sharma, Pranjal Rastogi, Dr. Deepak Tripathi. Their presence added prestige and motivation to the camp proceedings.

A special highlight of the event was the ceremonial unveiling of the poster of IDDA’s upcoming coffee table book, marking a significant milestone for the association’s journey. Senior journalist Dharmender Singh eloquently anchored the Day-1 proceedings, adding professionalism and vibrancy to the programme.

Organisers expressed confidence that the structured training, expert mentoring, and transparent selection process will provide a strong foundation for the Indian contingent and significantly enhance its performance at the Selangor Open.
