Green School Programme in SVIS, Dwarka

“We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do.” Environmental protection doesn’t happen in a vacuum. You can’t separate the impact on the environment from the impact on our families and communities.

SVIS took an initiative by Flagging off the Green School Programme, an initiative of the Center of Science & Environment. This programme helps schools to audit their use of resources and map their consumption and wastage.

The flag off ceremony was hosted on 13th Oct, 2011 in the school premises .The occasion was graced by Mr. Ashish Shah , Deputy Coordinator Dept. of Environment Education , CSE, Mr. P.K.Dutt(a Naturalist), Mr. UNB Rao (Chairman UVNAC),Ms. Cicily Kodiyan, President Association of Ladies Get Together, Ms. Asha Varshney, Mr. Pathak, who were graciously welcomed by the head of the institution Ms. Nita Arora .

The programme primarily focused on the restoration of the key elements water, air, land, energy and utilization of waste. For the aforesaid purpose the school appointed to audit teams of teachers and students who will be auditing, monitoring & restoring the various resources available within the school premises. The speakers encouraged the school community to build an active & skilled brigade of environmental protectors. They even appreciated the zing and the zest of the school audit team who will take the baton forth and also build values on environmental protection amongst the students to carry on this venture throughout their lives even beyond the confines of the school.
