Independence Day 2008 was celebrated in Shiksha Bharati Public School Dwarka with all pomp, fervour and enthusiasm. The highlight of the day’s function was an admirable gesture, bringing to fore the noble qualities of the school management. Driven by a sense of altruism and selflessness – and philanthropy par excellence – Chairman Shri Deepak Bharadwaj, true champion of the downtrodden and underprivileged, performed the noble and generous act of providing mobility to physically challenged people residing in the area, by presenting them with tricycles. As the recipients of this benevolence wheeled away from the school premises – each of them proudly sporting the National Flag – the smiles on their faces was ample reward, putting greater joy in the heart of this caring and compassionate humanitarian.
The day belonged to the students especially the younger lot studying in the smaller classes, who were earlier treated to enjoyable programmes organized by the school teachers. Students exhibited their talents in various spheres – giving speeches on Independence, reciting poems on sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and singing songs in memory of those who had laid down their lives for the country.
Shri Amarnath Amar, Programme Executive – Doordarshan was the Chief Guest. He was escorted to the function by Shri Deepak Bharadwaj, Smt. Ramesh Kumari (Manager), Shri P K Pandya (Principal); and Mr N C Jain and Smt. Mrs Mythili Attavar, both PTA Members. The national flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest amid playing of the school band and singing of the national anthem by proud children. The investiture ceremony was also held on this occasion, and selected senior students were presented their badges. Shri Deepak Bharadwaj administered the oath to the student leaders, who took a solemn pledge to always abide by the school rules and regulations.
A colourful dance programme was held as part of the function with tiny tots dancing to patriotic songs. The speakers reminded all present of the greatness and oneness of our country, and the price which our freedom fighters had to pay so that we could savour our freedom. Chief Guest Shri Amarnath Amar was all praise for the wonderful show put up by the budding and talented kids. Chairman Shri Bharadwaj exhorted the children to become responsible citizens of the country. Smt. Ramesh Kumari, Manager reminded the children of their duties to their parents, their school and most of all, our beloved country. PTA Member Shri N C Jain applauded the efforts of the school teachers who left no stone unturned in grooming and training the young students. Mrs Mythili Attavar commended the young and talented children and reminded one and all that as each child had his or her special talents, we must refrain from making comparisons of one child with another.
The function concluded with the presentation of tricycles to the physically challenged. Photos show tiny tots in action on stage; and the beneficiaries with their gifts, being addressed by Chairman Shri Deepak Bharadwaj along with Principal Shri P K Pandya, Manager Smt Ramesh Kumari, and Chief Guest Shri Amarnath Amar, Programme Executive – Doordarshan.
