‘Practice like you’ve never won, Perform like you’ve never lost’.
‘Theatre in action’, an amazing way of amalgamating education with theatre , was presented by Grade 6 students during the English Literary Week on April 29, 2017 at Sri Venkateshwar International School. The focus was on celebrating the work of two great writers of English Language. The show commenced with traditional lamp lightning ceremony and floral accord to the distinguished luminaries.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest Mr Deepankar Prakash, a film director and an actor, along with Ms Pratibha, the main lead of the short movie ‘Massakali’. Mr Prakash is an accomplished short film Director whose work has been nominated and selected for awards at New York, Berlin, Rajasthan International Film Festival and Jaipur International Film Festival. The young enthusiasts showcased short stories by O.Henry and a beautiful play depicting “Seven Stages of Life’ by William Shakespeare. Each performance was enthralling and mesmerising, depicting a unique message of goodness, love, sacrifice and brotherhood.
Shakespeare’s universal appeal and feel for a journey of life was beautifully decoded in a play that showcased the seven ages of human life, reminding the audience about the actual significance of life.
The Chief Guest appreciated the natural talent of the students as he said that the purpose of theatrical events was to bring characters to life. He was overwhelmed to see the young ones performing with aplomb on the stage. He also mentioned that speaking confidently on stage is more important, irrespective of the size of one’s role and that is what was evident in all the productions by Sri Venkateshwar students. The students seemed to be very natural as they understood and enlivened the stories well.
The show ended with an inspirational speech by School Principal Ms Nita Arora, the guiding force behind each event and vote of thanks by Ms Ritu Vashisht , Headmistress Middle Wing.
