NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY CELEBRATED @ N. K. BAGRODIA PUBLIC SCHOOL, DWARKA

N.K. Bagrodia Public School, Sector-4,Dwarka celebrated National Education day on November 10 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter and first education minister of Independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The aim of the event organised was to highlight the compelling need for ‘Education for All’ and the pivotal role it can play in making our country a fast developing nation in true sense. The honorable chief guest for the occasion was Padmashri Smt Shovana Narayan, one of the best kathak danseuses in the world, Sangeet Natak Academy awardee, a social activist and ex IAS of India. She has contributed immensely for the upliftment of the education sector of our country. The even commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and the school principal Dr. Rajee N Kumar. This was followed by the prayer. The students sung a melodious song on ‘Swachhta hain paryavaran ka’ ,to sensitize the youth to maintain their surroundings. Students also performed a nukkad natak on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan-Education for All.
A power point presentation was shown on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and NKBPS journey in providing sustainable life skilleducation to promote vocational skills and imparting social and emotional skills among students, so as to prepare them to become responsible citizens who can contribute for the development of society and the country.A beautiful dance performance, highlighting the folk culture and traditional ethos of India was also presented by the students.The chief guest and the school principal lauded the tremendous efforts of the students.

The highlight of the event was when Smt Shovana Narayan taught few kathak steps to the students who were really delighted with this generous gesture shown by the chief guest.

She also gave her blessings to the students and highlighted the importance of education, equal rights for both genders, social sensitivity and social service. She also shared few stories related to our ancient Indian philosophy which emphasise on the arts as well as academics thereby balancing the negative and positive elements within us (call it ‘tandava’ and ‘lasya’ or call it ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ etc). The event culminated with a vote of thanks.
