National Recognition to Sri VIS in Green I Contest


National Recognition to Sri VIS in Green I Contest held by Young Indians (Yi); an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Young Indians (Yi) was formed in 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. With support from United Technologies and Carrier Air conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd. (Carrier) and guidance from the Indian Green Building Council, Yi launched the Green I Contest to create the much needed awareness on environmental responsibility in the school children and community through them.

The contest aimed at encouraging students to think about conservation and sustainability measures that can be incorporated within their school / community. Sri VIS entered one of its projects being carried out by class X.

Anshi Agrawal, Aditi Garg, Siddharth Verma & Chakshu Khanna of class X worked on the project and entered the competition. Securing first position at the state level, they were selected for the National finals which were held at Hyderabad. The finalist schools were: The Choithram School (Indore), St. Kabir School (Chandigarh), Aashiana Public School (Chandigarh), Sri Venkateshwar International School (New Delhi), Smt. Ramkumar Devi Fomra Vivekananda Vidyalaya (Chennai).

Sri VIS secured a national level trophy for its effort in promoting the concept of sustainable development and conservation through waste management. The students were awarded by the IT Minister of Telangana Mr K T Rama Rao & the Chairman Dr Prem C Jain on 04 September at the Hyderabad International Convention Center.

The contest made a great impact in terms of influencing students to think about the environment and be aware of the various measures that can be taken to minimize the negative impact. Sri VIS stands committed to its pledge with mother nature for promoting the concept of sustainable development.
