The proceedings of the day commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and invoking blessings from the Almighty. The chief guest Mr. Sunil Singh, international Yoga guru, graced the occasion by his presence. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr S.K. Bhattacharya, the director of NKBPS group of Schools,. The judges for the championship were eminent names in the world of yoga, Mr. Anil Mudgal , Delhi University Coach ,Mr. Pawankumar, a national yoga player and corporate yoga instructor.The School Principal Dr. Rajee N. Kumar welcomed all the honorable guests and thejudges of the event. This was followed by a melodious welcome song by the students. The event proceeded with a yoga demonstration by NiyatiPandey,a student of class VIII.
The championship was held in two categories 8 to 12 and 12 to 17 age groups separately for boys and girls . The participants performed various asanaswith their praiseworthy spiritsas per the rules and regulations of the competition.They enthralled the audience and the judges by their flawless acumen and received a huge applause from everyone.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony in which the deserving participants were awarded with medals. The first position in the 8-12 years girls’ category was bagged by Kirti Negi of N.K. Bagrodia Public School, sector-4 Dwarka and Vrinda Chopra of G.D. Goenka School Dwarka. The first position under the 12-17 years girls’ category was secured byNiyatiPandey of N.K. Bagrodia School, Dwarka and Nikita of G.D. Goenka School, Dwarka. Likewise the boys’ 8-12 age category also saw a passionate tie between Daksh Solanki of St. Mary School, Dwarka and Bhavit Bajaj of Presidium Public School, Dwarka. The winners in the 12-17 age group boys wereKrish of St. Gregorious School and Nitin of N.K. Bagrodia Public School, Rohini.
The chief guest delivered his words of wisdomwhich centered on making yoga a part of everyday routine for a healthy living and appreciating the students for their exemplary efforts. The day culminated with a laughter yoga spreading a spirit of sportsmanship .This was followed by the National Anthem .
