A Gold Medalist in M.A. Urdu and a Ph.D. holder from the Department of Urdu and Persian, Rajasthan University, Jaipur, Dr. Sagir devoted decades to the promotion of Urdu language and literature. His academic brilliance was matched by his exemplary service in public institutions. He served as Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Rajasthan Waqf Board, Jaipur, and retired as Secretary of the Rajasthan Urdu Academy, Jaipur — a position that reflected his administrative acumen and literary leadership.
In recognition of his work, he was felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot, for implementing the Madrasa Modernization Scheme. He also received honors from the Rajasthan Urdu Academy, Jaipur, for his remarkable contributions to Urdu services, and from the District Collector, Jaipur, for his valuable role in Waqf services.
Beyond his official responsibilities, Dr. Sagir was an erudite scholar, poet, and editor. He served as Editor of the fortnightly Guide of Rajasthan and as Editor-in-Chief of Message of Waqf. His literary pursuits included writing poetry, essays, and articles for various newspapers and magazines, and he was a familiar presence at Mushairas and literary gatherings.
Deeply committed to the cause of education, he taught Urdu, Arabic, and Persian to students, and passionately engaged in teaching the Holy Quran. His association with numerous social and Islamic organizations underscored his dedication to cultural and educational upliftment.
Colleagues and admirers remember him not only for his intellectual depth but also for his humility and devotion to service. “He lived for knowledge, faith, and the progress of society,” said a fellow academic.
