The association of elderly people “Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi” (SDKS) celebrated Children Day (Bal Divas) on 16th November 2014 in Sector-22 Dwarka to mark Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125th birth anniversary. More than sixty children upto the age of ten years participated in painting competition and sports events organized by the association on this occasion. The celebration was full of enthusiasm. Shri PB Mishra, Secretary SDKS informed that “although the actual ‘Bal Divas’ was on 14th November but this celebration was held on sixteenth being first Sunday thereafter, so as to ensure maximum participation of the children and their parents”. “Our main focus in this programme was on less privileged class children. Grandchildren of SDKS members joined them hand in hand as a brotherhood gesture”, he further informed.
Shri Shashi Kant Kapoor, General Secretary SDKS, conducted the programme himself with full gusto. He was of the opinion that such programmes are a big tool to inculcate a sense of confidence in the children of under-prevelged class of the society and having faith in others. “On the other hand it helps in developing a sense of responsibility and brotherhood in better placed children. “Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi” association keeps organizing such programmes, very often”, Mr. Kapoor said.
Shri Mukesh Sinha, Managing Editor of Dwarka City news-paper distributed prizes to the winner children. He also invited some senior and very senior citizens present there to distribute some prizes, as a mark of respect to them. Consolation prizes were given to all the children including the small kids who did not participate in any programme. Shri Sinha addressed the children and encouraged them to dream big and work hard in their studies. Refreshment was served to all the children and others present there.
The two-hour programme was full of enthusiasm. The cheerful faces of not only the children but the parents, the SDKS members and invited dignities were clearly telling the story of their joy and contentment. Many by-passers also joined the show and praised the efforts of “Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi”. The children were loudly encouraged by the gathering. Ceremony ended with a warm vote of thanks by Capt S.S. Mann, Vice President of the association.
