Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi launched the traffic sentinel scheme


Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi today formally launched the traffic sentinel scheme as part of the National Road Safety Week-2018 celebrations, at Dogra Hall Auditorium, IIT Hauz Khas, Delhi.

On this occasion as many as 319 Sentinels, who voluntarily offered their services, were appointed . They would help Traffic police in regulating and managing traffic. They were given kits consisting of Fluorescent Jackets, Caps and Identity Cards to be used by them while assisting Traffic police during duty.

In addition , active users of Traffic Sentinel App who accumulated points on the basis of videos/ photographs of traffic violations sent by them to Delhi Traffic Police were also felicitated . The first and second award winners namely Sh. Yogesh Dhawan and SC Kakkar were awarded with Hero motorcycle and Hero scooter respectively sponsored by Hero Moto Corp. The Third prize winners were given cash reward of Rs. 15,000 each sponsored by IGL and the fourth prize winners were given cash reward of Rs. 10000 each sponsored by HMSI. The fifth prize winners were given cash reward of Rs 1500 each sponsored by SIAM. The sixth prize winners were given PVR movie tickets for four persons and the seventh prize winners were given cash reward of Rs. 1000 each.

Speaking on this occasion, Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi congratulated the traffic sentinels and inspired them to work in close coordination with Delhi Traffic Police. The CP hoped that the scheme would extend further with more citizens chip in and make impact on regulation and managing of traffic.

Sh. Dependra Pathak, Spl. Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Sh. P. Kamraj, Spl. Commissioner of Police, L&O (South) and Sh. Sandeep Goel, Spl. Commissioner of Police, L & O( North) and other senior officers of Delhi police and representatives from Hero Moto Corp, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd. , Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures & Synergie graced the occasion.
