The students of Class VIII of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sector 18, Dwarka celebrated ‘The works of Shakespeare – The Bard of Avon’ on May 19, 2018.
The Chief Guest for the day was Major General Ranjan Singh Chand, VSM. He was accompanied by his wife Ms Radhika Chand, an educationist and a theatre aficionado. The august gathering included the School Chairman Ms Sailander Solanki, the Head Learner Ms Nita Arora, Headmistresses of the three wings and the elated and proud parents as well as grandparents.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lamp lightning by the guests followed by the felicitation of the school chairman on winning the Educationist of the Year Award. The show started with the amalgamation of the plays of Shakespeare Oeuvre followed by Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Julius Caesar and The Tempest. The School Principal Ms Nita Arora addressed the parents by complimenting them that everyone has a lot of positive traits, look on the positives and learn to avoid negativity. It will lead to a happier and a peaceful society. She encouraged the students to enjoy their childhood with mirth and laughter.
The audience was left spellbound as they awarded a standing ovation to the young performers. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the students who preferred real literature over trivia to celebrate learning the finer aspects of life.
The school also appreciated the arduous efforts of its teachers who mentored the students and enabled them to put up a grand show.
The show was witnessed by select students and teachers of VIS sector 10, St Mary School, Mount Carmel, N.K. Bagrodia Public School, Maxfort School and DAV Public School.
The show culminated with the National Anthem as the resplendent young learners and proud parents left the precincts of the institution with joy and pride.
