Hon’ble Prime Minister of India gave a call for ‘Swachh Bharat’ as a mass movement to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India. Taking this initiative a step ahead, Class X students of Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka have taken the initiative beyond classrooms as a Shram Daan Activity.
A sense of responsibility has been evoked among the students through the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Students were guided about the need to keep the surroundings clean for aesthetic and as a preventive measure against diseases. All of us including the Chairman Mr. Sailander Solanki, Principal Mrs. Nita Arora, HM Mrs R Banopreeya & Mrs. Shama Kapoor along with the class teacher Ms. Shweta Jaiswal and Eco-Club Incharge Ms. Bhawna Sharma gathered and cleaned the front area from the school to Kargil Apartments. Armed with brooms, dustpans, garbage bags, plants, wearing masks, gloves and caps, we attempted to cleanup and planted saplings. Book the dustbins were filled up with the junk and weeds that were uprooted. We also spread the message of maintaining a clean surrounding to other citizens and commuters by putting up banners.
The drive was not only restricted to “Swacch Bharat” but progressed to “Harit Bharat” as well. Our Principal emphasizes not only on cleaning but also on planting a sapling, wherever possible. Watering these newly planted saplings regularly will be the shared responsibility of school staff and Eco brigade.
