Kanpur is set to host the 1st Para Darts National Championship 2026 for the first time, with the two-days national event scheduled to be held on January 31 and February 1 at Malik Guest House, Rama Devi. The championship aims to provide a strong national platform to differently-abled athletes and will witness the participation of over 120 para players from various states across India.
Organisers stated that the championship goes beyond competitive sport and represents a meaningful initiative focused on the empowerment, self-confidence and dignity of persons with disabilities. Mahendra Singh, General Secretary and Ankur Gupta, President, informed that the competition will be conducted strictly in accordance with international para sports standards, featuring categories such as wheelchair, lower limb and upper limb, under the supervision of a neutral referee panel and a qualified technical team.
Adding to the attraction, a Para Fashion Show and Talent Hunt Programme will be organised on January 31 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, highlighting the creative and cultural talents of para athletes and delivering a strong social message of inclusion and inspiration.
Several eminent personalities are expected to grace the occasion, including Shri Satish Mahana, Shri Sanjay Kapoor, Hon’ble MP Shri Ramesh Awasthi, the District Magistrate of Kanpur Nagar along with senior administrative officials and social workers.
Renowned social worker and Kanpur-based icon Ms. Shikha Shukla has been named the Brand Ambassador of the championship. The event will also witness the presence of Advocate Geetanjali Sharma (President, Manav Sankalp Welfare Society), Mr. Ted Macmillan (CEO, World Disability Darts Association, Scotland), Dr. Uttam Ojha and Joint Secretary Sunil Mangal, further adding stature to the national sporting event.
