“Apart from 2R2 finish, Outokumpu will also be showcasing new high-chromium ferritic stainless steel grade 1.4622 with improved corrosion resistance, strength, and formability. The ferritic 4622 grade is suitable for demanding architectural applications. It has similar corrosion resistance but better deep-draw ability than the standard 304 grade.” Said Mr suri.
“Stainless steel is now the preferred material for home ware , catering, home appliances, modern building and architecture due to its high mechanical strength, resistance to corrosion, aesthetics and cost efficiency. It performs well in extreme climate conditions and needs little maintenance.” He said.
“The widespread use of stainless steel in the food and drink, catering and kitchenware industry reflects the fact that stainless steel resists corrosion by most food and beverages. The product is not contaminated by stainless steel, and consequently no flavours or discolouration is imparted to the food and drink. In addition, stainless steel is readily cleaned, providing hygiene in food processing and handling. Stainless steel is also strong and can be formed into necessary shapes for food processing, handling and storage. Stainless steel is the ideal material to use in the food & drink industry” said Mr Suri.
