Beijing 2008 Olympics

The Olympic Games is an international multi-sport event. The original Olympic Games were first recorded in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. The International Olympic Committee was founded in 1894 on the initiative of a French nobleman, Pierre Frédy, Baron de Coubertin.
The 2008 Olympic Games, also known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, the international multi-sport event which is being held in Beijing from August 8 to August 24, 2008. Aproximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in 302 events in 28 sports. Sports included in the olympics: boxing, swimming, baseball, basketball, cycling, badminton, archey, shooting, sailing, wreslting, volleyball, table tennis etc. The Chinese government has promoted the games and has invested heavily in olympics in respect of new facilities and transportation systems.
The opening ceremony was held at the Beijing National Stadium, began at 8:00 pm according to the China Standard Time on 8 August 2008. According to the chinese culture the number 8 is associated with prosperity and confidence. The ceremony was co-directed by Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou and Chinese choreographer Zhang Jigang.
The Olympics Closing Ceremony concluded the Beijing Games on August 24, 2008, at National Stadium. It began at 8:00pm. The Ceremony included the handover of the games from Beijing to London. Guo Jinlong, the Mayor of Beijing handed over the Olympic flag to the Mayor of London Boris Johnson. The next olympic will be held in London.
In olympics as usuall china is on the top…. they have total 100 medals out of which 51are gold, 21 are silver and 28 bronze. After China…. USA is on second position and Russia is on third position. Medals table are given below:

Hmm…. What to say about india. India have only three medals…. One gold which is won by Abhinav Bindra in shooting 10m air rifle, second is bronze which is won by Sushil Kumar in wreslting and the third one is in Boxing- a Bronze by Vijender Kumar.
