Shri Robin Sharma, convener, Dwarka Vyapar Mandal said that the DDA has now said to take the sanction for the Control Room from its architect/ concerned officers. He also told that the govt. has sanctioned crores of rupees for this project and some cameras have already been installed but they cannot work without control room. Installation of CCTV cameras is being undertaken in view of the coming commonwealth games and festival season, any delay would defeat the very purpose. He said that he has minutes of meeting for this. Moreover, taking sanction for the control room from the concerned officials of the DDA is primarily the job of Delhi Police and authorities will not easily listen to Vyapar Mandal. Presumbly, these CCTV Cameras are being installed on the directive presumably from the Ministry of Home Affairs. This is a bizarre case of lack of co-ordination between two government agencies and should be sorted out urgently in view of yesterday’s shoot out incident at Jama Masjid in which two citizen of Taiwan were injured. In the past, terrorists have been apprehended from the markets in Dwarka. We expect the DDA to be wise and sensitive in the matter in view of the safety of residents and visitors of the games.
