CONFEDERATION OF UNESCO CLUBS AND ASSOCIATIONS OF INDIA (CUCAI)
Dear School Principal.
Every year since 1977, International Museum Day is held on 18 May. International Museum Day aims to increase public awareness of the role of museums in developing society. The theme for International Museum Day 2011 is Museum and Memory. Museums preserve memories and tell stories. They have in their collections numerous objects that are fundamental to the memory of the communities we live in. These objects are the expression of our natural and cultural heritage. Many of them are fragile, some endangered, and they all need special care and conservation. International Museum Day 2011 will be an opportunity to discover and rediscover your individual and collective memory.
It gives me pleasure to inform you that our organization together with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Delhi Circle and Museum branch North is celebrating the International Museum Day on 18th May 2011 by organizing an ON THE SPOT PAINTING COMPETITION (of the objects and artifacts on display in the museum) for school children of class VIII and IX at Children’s Museum, Sir Fort, Shapur Jat Village Next to Panchsheel Park in South Delhi from 08:30 to 11:30 am.
Participating school children should bring their own drawing board & drawing materials. Drawing sheets would be provided by the organizers. Participants are free to use any drawing painting material. Prizes would be given to the selected entries (1st, 2nd 3rd prizes & 5 consolation prizes for class VIII and IX std. separately). All participating children would be given a participation certificate and refreshments.
Interested schools are requested to confirm their participation (preferably by e-mail) mentioning the names of the participating children. Participation will be accepted on first come first served basis as we will accept only 150 to 200 students from all schools (Maximum 15 students from each school). The confirmation should reach us at the earliest.
The prizes and Participation Certificates of the previous Painting Competition held at National Museum, Janpath, New Delhi will also be distributed on this day.
