A MUSICAL EVENING – RAAG RANG

Living up to its aim of promoting the art, culture and traditions of India, Spandan Communications organised  Raag Rang- the series of Indian classical music on April 10th 2011 held at The India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.The concert showcased the performance of Smt. Priyadarshini Kulkarni (Hindustani Vocal). 
 
Priyadarshini Kulkarni is certainly an example of the evolving picture of Indian classical musician. . Gifted with a sensational voice Priyadarshini is a singer par excellence in her generation. She is a committed performer of Hindustani classical music. She learnt under Pt. Nath Neralkar of Aurangabad. She got the opportunity to learn from Pt. Rajshekhar Mansur, son of the doyen of Khyal the late Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur, himself a distinguished exponent of the Jaipur school. Priyadarshini also received special guidance in Jaipur-Atrauli style from Shri Madhusudan Kanetkar, one of the most respected teachers of music in country.

Commencing the program with Raga Yaman Kalyan, Smt. Priyadarshini Kulkarni captivated the audience with her musical charm. She further mesmerized her audience with raga Tilak Kamodh, Basanti Kedar. She ended her performance with Kafi Hori.

She was accompanied by Sh. Prasun Chatterjee on the Tabla, Smt. Paromita Mukherjee on the Harmonium, and Sh. Sandeep Kumar & Sh. Ashwin on the Tanpura.On this occasion, Deepak Gupta gave a sincere thank to the artists for their unusual performance & to the audience for sparing their valuable time to joined them. He further added that these musical baithaks called ‘Raag Rang Evenings’ are organized with the purpose of promoting and reviving Indian Classical Music.

Also present in the gathering were Smt. Shovana Narayan, Sh. Ravinder Mishra, Sh. Viswajeet Roy Choudhury, Avinash Pasricha, Sarit Das and others.
