Russian House celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary celebrated

In honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary, a literary seminar and photo exhibition focused on his personality was organized at the Russian House. The event began with a welcome speech by Elena Remizova, the director of the Russian House. She expressed gratitude to Moscow State University, Amity University, and the speakers for making the seminar and exhibition successful.

The program featured an engaging three-hour discussion on the correspondence between the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi’s affinity for Russia, and Tolstoy’s affection for Gandhi and India. During this seminar, Dr. Sonu Saini from the Russian Studies Center at Jawaharlal Nehru University recited an original poem in Russian about the inspiring personalities of Tolstoy and Gandhi. Additionally, retired professor Hemchandra Pandey, young journalist Janvi Sonia, Professor Abhay Maurya, and Sayma Parveen from Jamia Millia Islamia University, among many other scholars from various universities, shared their thoughts. Victor Gorelykh and Ekaterina represented the Russian Embassy and actively participated in the event.
