New Delhi, October 12, 2025:
The Rashtriya Patrakar Mahasangha (RPM), a prominent national body representing journalists across India, convened its monthly Google Meet on Sunday to deliberate on upcoming landmark events — National Press Day (November 16) and Constitution Day (November 26).
During the virtual session, members exchanged insightful ideas for celebrating National Press Day at both state and local levels, emphasizing the need for wider participation from journalists and media institutions nationwide. A key highlight of the discussion was the proposal for a nationwide signature campaign urging the Government of India to recognize Media as the Fourth Estate through constitutional legislation — a long-standing demand of the journalistic community.
Adding a forward-looking dimension to the discussions, Prof. S. S. Dogra, senior media educator and motivational speaker, proposed organizing a Marathon to raise public awareness about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the media industry and to promote a culture of fitness and sportsmanship among journalists and citizens alike.
The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation from RPM members across various states, including Mr. Virendra Kumar Saini (Delhi NCR President), Mr. Srinivasa Rao (Telangana State Convenor), Mr. K. Nagakoteswar Rao, Mrs. K. D. Mishra (Delhi State General Secretary), Mr. Mehetab Khan Chand (National Convenor), Mr. Bhanupratap Nayak (Coordinator, Odisha & South Zone), Mr. Radheshyam Panda (Deputy National Coordinator), Mr. Tahir Ahmad (Program Coordinator), Mr. Santosh Kumar Yadu (Coordinator, Chhattisgarh), Mr. Deepak Kumar, and Mr. Tikeswar.
The interactive session was hosted by National Treasurer Mr. Dhiraj Kumar and presided over by Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samantaray, National President, who lauded members for their proactive suggestions and reaffirmed RPM’s commitment to strengthening journalistic values and press freedom across the country.
