“Know Your Village, Only Then Will the Human Journey Be Complete” — Dr. Chet Ram Garg

A special discussion session titled “Dialogue on the History of the Village” was organized today at the Central Sanskrit University, Kangra. Dr. Chet Ram Garg, Director of the Thakur Ram Singh Itihas Shodh Sansthan, Neri, addressed 35 M.A. students of Jyotish (Astrology).

In his address, Dr. Garg stated, “It is extremely important for us to know the history of our villages. If we fail to understand our own villages, our human journey remains incomplete.” Encouraging students to reconnect with their roots, he shared that he selected twelve villages in Himachal Pradesh and initiated an innovative effort to document their histories through the local residents themselves.

He also referred to the “Hamare Gaon–Hamari Virasat” (Our Village–Our Heritage) initiative, noting that such efforts have been encouraged by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as an important step toward preserving local history and cultural heritage.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Chet Ram Garg is a distinguished academician and researcher. As the Director of the Thakur Ram Singh Itihaas Shodh Sansthan, Neri in Hamirpur, he is widely recognized for his visionary leadership and scholarly dedication. He has made significant contributions to promoting research, preserving regional heritage and strengthening academic initiatives in Himachal Pradesh. His unwavering commitment to excellence continues to inspire scholars and students, advancing the institution’s mission of knowledge and cultural enrichment.

Following the session, Prof. Satyam Kumari, Director of Central Sanskrit University, Kangra, highly appreciated the inspiring discussion Session conducted by Dr. Garg and described it as extremely beneficial and guiding for the students.
